A Paen to Mother

All that I am, I owe to you

I have no God other than you.

You lived in a world where there were no nukes or nerds

You lived on simple rice an curds.

You knew not chromosomes X or Y

But brought forth a son and heaved a sigh.

You showered me with love and affection,

Spared the rod without spoiling the child, i must mention.

I remember you mother, pledging gold from your ear

To pay my fees and make me an engineer.

Spartan living and noble thoughts

Love of poetry and literature.

Your life itself was an example to follow

Before which bookish knowledge sounds so hollow.

How can I ever repay your debt

Not in this life, i bet.

I have to be reborn again and again

And in every birth you as my mother will remain.

Love you Mother.
